Upper School Visual Arts

The visual arts program at Hebron Christian Academy for Upper School students in grades 9-12 offers classes in Broadcasting, Photography, Graphic Design, 2-D, and 3-D art. Our art program is designed to ensure that students have a variety of experiences for imagining, exploring, and creating visual art. Arts classes challenge students at every level and include not only an emphasis on developing skills and knowledge, but also creative thinking. Art history, technical skills, collaboration, and cross-curricular activities, as well as arts-related service projects are important components of our visual arts program. Involvement and experience in arts education increases students’ performance in other academic areas. Teaching young people to “think outside the box” can extend their success beyond an art class and into their future beyond high school.

The visual arts class options for students in grades 6-8 include a 9-week exploration class for 6th and 7th grades, and semester or full-year classes for 7th and 8th grades. Middle school art is focused on developing students’ abilities in creative expression and drawing skills and techniques, with practice in a variety of art media. Students explore art history, examine art from other cultures, and make art connections to other academic areas, such as math, biblical studies, and language. Developing creative thinking skills, problem solving, and time management in middle school art classes provides students with lifelong learning skills and the opportunity to grow creatively, intellectually, and spiritually.
EVERY CHILD IS AN ARTIST. THE PROBLEM IS HOW TO REMAIN AN ARTIST ONCE HE GROWS UP.” ~Pablo Picasso
