Hebron Lions Upper School Band Program

The Hebron Lions Upper School Band Program consists of 6th – 12th grade students, separated into four performing ensembles: Beginning Band, Concert Band, Symphonic Band, and the Marching Lion Band. Students study music fundamentals through playing woodwind, brass, or percussion instruments, while performing in an individual or ensemble setting. Our goal at Hebron is to lead students in many different musical experiences, all while glorifying God and developing the talents they have been blessed with.

Upper School Band Opportunities

List of 4 items.

  • Beginning Band

This ensemble serves our 6th grade students and middle school students who are new to band. All students learn music basics, such as theory, sight-reading, and pitch recognition, as they play their very first notes on their selected instruments. The fundamentals learned here are built upon throughout their HCA band experience.
  • Concert Band

This ensemble combines 7th and 8th grade students. We build on the foundations, scale development, tone production, and rhythm building that were learned as 6th grade musicians, and further develop the skills necessary for performing at the Christmas Concert, LGPE (Large Group Performance Evaluation), and several seasonal concerts, all in ensemble performance settings. Each concert offers an opportunity for students to perform a varied selection of music which provides them the ability to address all aspects of music, such as: tone quality, intonation within the ensemble, proper technique, balance within the ensemble and different sections, and their overall musicality.
  • Symphonic Band

This ensemble is offered for our 9th through 12th grade students. The primary goal for the Symphonic band is to further develop each student’s individual and ensemble skills, while preparing for a variety of concerts throughout the year, including the Christmas, Spring, and LGPE performances. Each concert offers an opportunity for students to perform a diverse selection of music that allows them to focus on all aspects of music, such as: tone quality, intonation within the ensemble, proper technique, balance within the ensemble and different sections, and our overall musicality. Another important aspect of the Symphonic band is to prepare high school students with the ability to incorporate music into their lives once they graduate, whether it be in pursuing instrumental music in college or any area of their lives after high school.
  • Marching Lions

The Marching Lions here at Hebron act as the face of our instrumental music program. This is a group of 7th through 12th grade band and color guard members who prepare a custom field show to be performed at football games and band competitions. All members attend our marching band camp prior to the start of each school year, then we have multiple practices per week.
Providing a Christ-centered learning community that challenges all students to realize their greatest potential for transforming their world and impacting their culture.
