Hebron Christian Academy Announces the Sperring Legacy Center

DACULA, Ga. – Hebron Christian Academy is honored to announce that the largest gathering space in the newly expanded G Building will be named the Sperring Legacy Center, recognizing the enduring legacy of the late Rev. Lance R. Sperring, founder of Northeast Atlanta Christian School, which later became Hebron Christian Academy.

The Sperring Legacy Center is a prominent feature of the G Building expansion and overlooks a new patio and entrance area that families will see as they enter the gates to Burlingame Field. Its central location and visibility make it a fitting space to honor a man whose vision helped lay the foundation for Christian education in this community.

In 1984, Rev. Sperring established Northeast Atlanta Christian School with a clear vision to provide families in the Dacula community with a Christ-centered education rooted in biblical truth. At a time when opportunities for Christian education in the area were limited, his faith, leadership, and commitment laid the foundation for a school that would impact generations of students and families.

Just two years later, the school celebrated its first graduating class of four students. During the next 15 years, Northeast Atlanta Christian School graduated 89 students, preparing them not only for academic success but, more importantly, for lives centered on Jesus Christ.

In June 1999, Hebron Baptist Church purchased Northeast Atlanta Christian School and established Hebron Christian Academy. While the school's name changed and its enrollment grew, its mission remained the same. The vision first established by Rev. Sperring continued to flourish as Hebron Christian Academy expanded its reach and influence.

The naming of the Sperring Legacy Center serves as a lasting tribute to Rev. Sperring's unwavering commitment to Christian education and to the countless lives that have been transformed because of his obedience to God's calling.

"The story of Hebron Christian Academy did not begin when our school changed names in 1999. It began in 1984 when Rev. Lance Sperring faithfully answered God's call to establish a Christ-centered school in this community," said Dr. James E. Taylor, Head of School at Hebron Christian Academy. "His vision continues to shape who we are today. Naming the Sperring Legacy Center is our way of honoring the man whose faith, courage, and commitment to Christian education made all of this possible. We are grateful to build upon the foundation he laid and to continue preparing students to know Christ, pursue excellence, and influence the world for His glory."

Hebron Christian Academy will officially dedicate the Sperring Legacy Center during Homecoming Weekend on Friday, October 16, as the Lions host Lumpkin County at Burlingame Field. Alumni, former Northeast Atlanta Christian families, current Hebron families, and members of the community are invited to join us as we celebrate Rev. Sperring's remarkable legacy and the lasting impact of his vision for Christian education.

Rev. Sperring's vision continues to live on in every student whose life is transformed through the Christ-centered mission of Hebron Christian Academy.
