Dacula, GA — Hebron Christian Academy is proud to announce that seniors Andrew Kim and Ethan Kim have been recognized as Commended Students in the 2027 National Merit Scholarship Program.

Andrew and Ethan will each receive a Letter of Commendation from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC®), which conducts the program. The recognition honors students for exceptional academic promise demonstrated by their outstanding performance on the qualifying test used for program entry.

Andrew Kim has attended HCA since 10th grade and has been a Top Ten student each year at Hebron. He is an AP Scholar with Distinction and a recipient of the Georgia Certificate of Merit.

Ethan Kim has attended HCA since sixth grade and has been a Top Ten student throughout high school. He is an AP Scholar with Distinction, an AP Capstone Diploma student and a recipient of the Georgia Certificate of Merit. Ethan also represented Hebron in the Governor’s Honors Program.

“Andrew and Ethan have distinguished themselves through their commitment to academic excellence and the consistent effort they bring to the classroom,” said Dr. Matthew Annett, Head of Upper School and Associate Head of School. “We are incredibly proud of this well-deserved recognition. Both young men have made a tremendous impact on our school community, and we look forward to seeing how God continues to use their gifts and abilities in the years ahead.”

Out of the approximately 1.2 million students nationwide who entered the 2027 competition by taking the 2025 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®), only about 34,000 earn the distinction of Commended Student, placing Andrew and Ethan among the top 50,000 high school students in the country.

“Those being named Commended Students have demonstrated outstanding potential for academic success,” said a spokesperson for NMSC. “These students represent a valuable national resource; recognizing their accomplishments, as well as the key role their schools play in their academic development, is vital to the advancement of educational excellence in our nation.”

As Commended Students, this recognition underscores their exceptional academic promise and positions them well for future educational opportunities.
