Dacula, GA — Hebron Christian Academy is proud to announce that seniors Nathan Boot and Sophia Burnet have been recognized as Commended Students in the 2026 National Merit Scholarship Program.

Both students will be presented with a Letter of Commendation from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC®), which conducts the prestigious program.

Nathan Boot has been at HCA since 4th grade and has been a Top Ten student throughout high school. He is an AP Scholar with Distinction, an AP Capstone Diploma student, and a recipient of the Georgia Certificate of Merit.

Sophia Burnet has been at HCA since Kindergarten and has also been a Top Ten student throughout high school. She is an AP Scholar with Distinction, an AP Capstone Diploma student, a Georgia Certificate of Merit recipient, and served as Hebron’s representative for the Governor’s Honors Program.

“We are incredibly proud of Nathan and Sophia,” said Dr. Matthew Annett, Head of Upper School and Associate Head of School. “Their hard work, dedication, and pursuit of excellence are great examples of the high standards we encourage at Hebron Christian Academy. This recognition reflects not only their talents but also their perseverance and commitment to learning.”

Out of the 1.5 million students nationwide who entered the 2026 competition by taking the 2024 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®), only about 34,000 earn the distinction of Commended Student, placing Nathan and Sophia among the top 50,000 high school students in the country.

“Those being named Commended Students have demonstrated outstanding potential for academic success,” said a spokesperson for NMSC. “These students represent a valuable national resource; recognizing their accomplishments, as well as the key role their schools play in their academic development, is vital to the advancement of educational excellence in our nation.”

As Commended Students, this recognition underscores their exceptional academic promise and positions them well for future educational opportunities.
