DACULA, Ga. – Hebron Christian Academy is proud to announce that eight students have been nominated for the prestigious Georgia Governor's Honors Program (GHP).
Managed by the Governor’s Office for Student Achievement, the 2024 four-week instructional program will be held this summer at Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, Georgia. In its 61st year, GHP is the longest continually running program of its kind in the nation. Students will be notified on Feb. 2, 2024, if they move on to the semifinalist/interview phase of the GHP application process.
"The Georgia Governor's Honors program is an exclusive program reserved for the best and brightest students," said HCA Head of School Dr. James Taylor. "We are incredibly proud of these eight students for their accomplishments, and this honor reflects not only their individual dedication but also the academic excellence of Hebron Christian Academy. Congratulations to these talented students and we look forward to seeing them progress in the application process."
Only 1% of all sophomores and juniors in the state of Georgia are nominated for the program, and the following eight students have been nominated for HCA.

- Madison Connor - Communicative Arts
- Kate Cornett - Social Studies
- Ruby Darter - Communicative Arts
- Adalaide Dowden - Science (Biology/Environmental Science)
- Sydney Gossling - Visual Arts
- Daniel Jacob - Social Studies
- Matthew Kirk - Mathematics
While selected students are in Statesboro this summer, they will live in Georgia Southern residence halls, eat in the dining facilities and learn in college classrooms, labs, studios and performance venues. GHP offers instruction that is significantly different from the typical high school classroom. It is designed to provide students with academic, cultural and social enrichment necessary to become the next generation of global critical thinkers, innovators and leaders.
