HCA recognized for student success in Advanced Placement program
DACULA, Ga. – College Board announced that Hebron Christian Academy has been named to the Advanced Placement® Program (AP®) School Honor Roll, earning Silver distinction for the fourth consecutive year in 2023-24.
The AP® School Honor Roll recognizes schools whose AP programs are delivering results for students while broadening access. Schools can earn this recognition annually based on criteria that reflect a commitment to increasing college-going culture, providing opportunities for students to earn college credit, and maximizing college readiness.
“Our students continue to perform extremely well,” said Upper School Principal and Assistant Head of School Dr. Matthew Annett. “For the fourth consecutive year, more than half of our classes exceeded the national pass rate by more than 15 percent and we continue to outpace Georgia in our percentage of students who earned a score of 4 or 5. We also had 25 AP Scholars, 21 AP Scholars with Honor, and 25 AP Scholars with Distinction, producing the highest numbers in the history of the school.”
HCA offers 18 Advanced Placement Courses: AP English Language, AP English Literature, AP Precalculus, AP Calculus AB, AP Calculus BC, AP Statistics, AP Biology, AP Chemistry, AP Physics C:Mechanics, AP Human Geography, AP World History, AP US History, AP US Government, AP Research, AP Seminar, AP Comp. Sc. A, AP Comp. Sc. Principles and AP 2D Art & Design.
“AP represents an opportunity for students to stand out to colleges, earn college credit and placement, and potentially boost their grade point averages,” said Trevor Packer, head of the AP program. “The schools have shown that they can expand access to these college-level courses and still drive high performance – they represent the best of our AP program.”
College Board’s Advanced Placement® Program (AP®) enables students to pursue college-level studies—with the opportunity to earn college credit, advanced placement, or both—while still in high school. Through AP courses in 38 subjects, each culminating in a challenging exam, students learn to think critically, construct solid arguments, and see many sides of an issue—skills that prepare them for college and beyond.
