Warriors Prevail Over Lions 28-21

DACULA, Ga.- The Varsity Hebron football team fell in their region opener to Oconee County in a tough game 28-21 on Friday night. 

The Warriors got on the board first with a rushing touchdown in the first quarter with eight minutes left. On the next possession for the Lions, the Warrior defense came up with a safety to make the game 9-0.

The Lion offense came back with a score with a rushing touchdown by Devon Caldwell with eight minutes left. The sophomore has eight scores on the season and averages 130.8 rushing yards per game. 

Heading into the locker room, the Lions were down 9-7. Oconee County's offense came out of the half and scored a rushing touchdown to increase their lead 15-7.

The Lions answered right after with a score off a punt return by Jarvis Mathurin with HCA only down 15-14. Defensively, the Lions rely on Justin Hornick, who is averaging 6.8 tackles per game. Nick Wade and Max Steve average 6.4 tackles per game. 

The Lions cut the lead when Thomas Stallworth found Noah Hill in the endzone with less than a minute in the fourth quarter. Stallworth has three passing touchdowns on the year. 

The Warriors prevailed, getting the ball back with less than a minute. Oconee County improves to 2-4 while the Lions are 3-3.
