PHOENIX, Ariz. - The Hebron girls basketball team set their sights on the Nike Tournament of Champions in Phoenix from Dec. 18-21. This is the first time the Hebron girls basketball program has ventured to this prestigious tournament under the direction of Jan Azar.

Entering this tournament, the Lions are an undefeated 9-0 on the year with huge wins over some of the top teams in the state like Norcross and Union Grove. The Lions are in the top-bracket with the top-16 teams in the country.

HCA comes in with a plethora of experience from Aubrey Beckham, JaKerra Butler, Mia James, and newcomer Danielle Ocho.

The No. 12 team nationally-ranked team was supposed to attend the Nike TOC in the 2020-21 season, but the COVID-19 pandemic hit.

"Just getting an invitation is a huge accomplishment. As a coaching staff, we started here five years ago and we knew that we wanted to grow and build, we just didn't it would happen this quickly. The Nike TOC has five different divisions, but to play in the top-bracket is a such an accomplishment. As a team, we have to go and compete in the top-bracket," said head coach Azar.

The winner of this game will play the winner of No. 1 team Long Island Lutheran and Ontario Christian.

Up Next: The girls will play Hazel Green for their first of four games in Arizona. All games will be played at Legacy Sports Park. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. (GMT), 8 p.m. (EST).
