WATKINSVILLE, Ga.- The Hebron volleyball team finished their season with a final four appearance at the GHSA AAA State Tournament against Sandy Creek. The Lions conclude the 2023 season with a 32-16, 4-1 record.

"This past season our team grew more than any other volleyball team in the programs history. With well over half the team that was on JV or in Middle School last year we were able to see a group of young ladies achieve a level of success that seemed unimaginable. As a coach you prepare a team to play their best ball at the end of the season and that is exactly what occurred with this young group," commented head coach Taylor Davis.

HCA advanced to the Final Four after sweeping Savannah Christian 3-0 on Oct. 25. The Lions fell to Sandy Creek 3-0, the Patriots improve to 38-10 on the season and will play in the GHSA AAA Championship game against reigning champions, Oconee County. In 2021, the Lions made an Elite Eight appearance and were named Region Champions.

This season, the Lions won their sixth region championship while head coach Taylor Davis won Region Coach of the Year.

Key assets for the Lions included Ashley Troxell and Jordan Simpkins, who tallied for 287 and 239 kills each. Malia Silva recorded 431 digs while Brooke Thao had 925 assists on the year.

"They believed in each other, worked incredibly hard, and executed down the stretch to win the Region and finish as a final four team. Beyond honored to have coached them this past season and look forward to what is to come."
