CARROLLTON, Ga.- After another fantastic season, the boys and girls cross country teams concluded their season at Carrollton High School at the the GHSA AAA State Championships.
The boys finished in third place with 109 points, while the girls came in seventh with 241 points. On the girls side, sophomore Layla Melton finished on the podium in fifth place. Behind her, Lindsey Buchanan and Amber Smith finished in the top-50 individually. At the region meet, Melton won the GHSA 8-AAA Region title after she ran a time of 20:06.
On the boys side, Everett Griffin and Anderson Mathias placed 11th and 12th, respectively. Javi Silva, Josh Graves, and Marco Perez rounded out the scoring for the Lions. Oconee County won the State Championship on the boys side while, Wesleyan claimed the title on the girls side.
