John Courtney grew up in Thomasville, Georgia, and graduated from Valdosta State University in 1996 with a degree in Philosophy. As a college sophomore, John felt God’s call on his life to enter the ministry. It was at Valdosta State that John met his wife, Beth, and they were married in 1997. Shortly after being married, John and Beth moved to New Orleans where they attended New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. John graduated with a Masters of Divinity in 2002. John and Beth have five children, Harley, Jett, CarsonAnn, Sadie, and Cruise - two of which are alumni of Hebron Christian Academy and three who are current students. John has been in ministry for 24 years and served in many capacities such as a youth pastor, church planter, executive pastor, lead pastor, and has served the last 15 years in para-church ministry. John is presently the Lead Strategist for the Georgia Baptist Mission Board where he works to provide support and resources to pastors and churches state wide. John and Beth have been active members of Hebron Baptist Church since 2014. They have served together in the preschool ministry, are Connect group leaders to parents of children and teens, and John serves on the leadership team at Hebron Baptist Church as well. John’s life, call into the ministry, and giftedness have been used to further the gospel at home, in our state, and around the world.
