• Help students improve their technology and information processing skills, preparing them for higher education and jobs in the technology-driven global economy.

We anticipate the one-to-one technology to increase the student’s:

• Basic math and reading skills.

• Communication skills through writing, collaboration, teamwork, and public speaking.
• Higher order thinking skills such as creativity, reasoning, problem-solving, evaluation, computational thinking, and analysis.
• Technological, cultural, and global awareness.
• Production of higher quality work.

Our focus is on enhanced learning, not simply the use of technology. There are many paths to mastery, and students can use technology as a tool to support the way they learn. Our use of 1:1 technology will be purposeful and relevant to course content. It will enable us to move beyond the capacity of traditional computer labs and incorporate technology on demand in the classroom. We want to increase the opportunities students have to learn by making technology an integral part of their daily educational experience.
 

Every student at Hebron Christian Academy will have daily access to a device to use in the classroom for writing, research, projects, communication, discussions, etc.

K4 through Kindergarten
Students will have access to an Apple iPad in their classrooms. Teachers will use apps and resources provided through the Apple Play Store to reinforce imperative academic skills such as: handwriting, letter and number recognition, phonemic awareness, word and sentence reading, counting, reading comprehension, and memory and recall.

First Grade through fifth Grade
Students will have access to a Google Chromebook in their classrooms. They will use the Chromebook to practice and improve skills such as: academic writing, reading comprehension, group collaboration, multiplication and division, and educational research. Students will be assigned a limited use Google account for accessing the devices and resources assigned by their teachers. 

Sixth Grade through 12th Grade
Students will be assigned a Google Chromebook used to enhance and reinforce many key academic skills, primarily in the academic research process, mathematics drill and practice, and subject-specific reading and writing. Students will be assigned Google accounts within the school domain that provides them access to important tools to enhance the learning experience. Students will be able to use the assigned device on and off campus. The Chromebooks will be an extension of the classroom and will be utilized primarily for student collaboration and creation, research and research writing, subject-specific reading and writing, personal organization, and mathematics skills training.
