Welcome New Faculty Members
Tim Anderson
Hebron Christian Academy welcomes Dr. Tim Anderson as the new high school principal. He comes to Hebron from Landmark Christian School where he served as the middle and high school principal. Prior to LCS he was the Assistant Dean of Students at Woodward Academy, where he also taught and coached. His undergraduate degree is in marketing from Georgia Southern University. He has also earned a master's and doctorate degree from Capella University in leadership and administration. He and his wife Julie have three children, Rae Anne (11), Analiese (9), and Brialyn (7) who will be attending HCA. Dr. Anderson's strengths are team building, a love for Christ and students, and a strong academic vision for the high school.
Taylor Davis
Newcomer Taylor Davis is not only new to HCA but also newly married to wife, Emma, and recently graduated from UGA. He will be teaching 7th grade life science and coaching JV volleyball. Taylor says he is here due to God's love and mercy. He grew up in a private school and always imagined being able to teach in a similar environment. In his spare time you can find Taylor on the lake bass fishing. He loves to fish tournaments.
Natalie Coker
Natalie Coker is the new fourth grade teacher and is excited to be a part of the HCA family. Natalie and her husband, Kyle, are the parents of 15-year old Peyton and 12-year old Claire. She holds a bachelor's degree in elementary education from Lipscomb University and has 6 years of teaching experience in special education, 6th and 4th grade. Natalie will be co-sponsoring the Book Club and is excited to be a part of the HCA family.
Cristine Smiga
A familiar face as a substitute teacher at HCA, Cristine Smiga is the new administrative assistant to Dr. Anderson and will now coordinate substitute teachers. Cristine is married to the middle school robotics coach, Christopher, and is the mother of freshman Breanne, 7th grader William, and 3rd grader Ethan. Cristine will serve as assistant coach for the middle school robotics team, assistant coach for middle school cross country, uniform sale coordinator and Camp Invention assistant director.
Linsey Shoppe
Cheerleading coach Linsey Shoppe comes to HCA to coach competition, football and basketball cheerleading and teach Health and PE. Linsey is a graduate of Georgia State and although is an experienced cheerleading coach is a first year teacher. Linsey loves life and Jesus Christ and has been a popular sub at Hebron and fan at Hebron games. She is the oldest of four children and big sister of Junior Brady Shoppe.
Sal Battaglia
Sal Battaglia is the new head football coach and 8th grade history teacher. A former player at Siena College, the native New Yorker has a long high school coaching career in his home state (he won a state title at his alma mater, Amsterdam), in Florida and in Georgia. He was a community coach most of those years while he worked a full-time job in the health care industry.
Seven years ago, he returned to teaching and began his coaching career in Georgia. Armed with the experience of working eight years in Florida with current Falcons defensive coordinator Brian Van Gorder, he has coached at Dacula, St. Pius and North Oconee in recent seasons. He was offensive coordinator at North Oconee last season.
Sal is married to art teacher Lori Battaglia.
Bryan Bartley
Bryan Barley began duties as Athletic Director in July. Prior to coming to Hebron, Bartley spent four years as an assistant for the Auburn men's basketball program.
After a three-year playing career at Upsala College, Bartley played one season of professional basketball in Portugal. He worked one season with the NBA's Cleveland Cavaliers and spent five years in the sales and marketing department with the Atlanta Hawks.
Bartley began his coaching career at Clarkston where he was a junior varsity basketball coach. He became head coach at Landmark in 2001 where he coached future NBA player Randolph Morris and led the team to two state playoff appearances.
Anne Marie Jacobs
In 2009 God brought the Jacobs family, Bob, Anne Marie, 2nd grader, Sam, 1st grader, Charlie, and 4-year old Elizabeth to the area from Ohio. They chose HCA for their children and Anne Marie is happy to be returning to the classroom as the new 6th grade language arts teacher. Prior to the move, Anne Marie taught middle school language arts in Ohio and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She loves reading the letters her students have written at the end of a year in her class.
Francis Mahan
Fifth-year teacher, Francis Mahan, is the new Sophomore Western Civilization and Senior AP Government and Economics teacher. A job change for Coach Mahan's wife, Sara, brought them to the Atlanta area where he has been busy this summer as an assistant coach for the football team. Coach Mahan has a bachelor's degree in history from Penn State and a masters degree in history from the University of Central Florida.
Ari Young
Ari Young comes to HCA for a committment to a Christ-centered education with academic focus and will serve as the history department chair and teacher of AP US History and college prep US History, Government and Economics. Ari has ten years teaching experience and holds masters and bachelors degrees from Georgia Tech and a masters in education from Georgia State. Ari and his wife, Megha, have twin 2-year old daughters Claire and Laurel and a son Taran entering kindergarten at HCA.
Charlene Brooks
Charlene Brooks will be teaching chemistry, honors chemistry and forensic science. She holds a bachelors degree in chemistry from Albany State University and is pursuing a masters in education at UGA. Charlene has three children: Lauren (17), Kaitlin (15), and Gabriel (8). Charlene was led to HCA when her mom saw the add in the newspaper. She sent in a resume and 2 hours later received a call. The odd thing was that they usually throw the paper away before reading it.
Michele Forster
Michele Forster is the new 3rd grade teacher on the elementary campus. Michele brings 15 years of experience in both public and private education and holds undergraduate and graduate degrees from Georgia State University. She is married to Duke and they have three children: Emily (14), Anna (13), and Steven (9). A favorite memory of Michele's was after reteaching regrouping to a group of second graders a boy called out, "I get it, Mrs. Forster, I really get it." Three years later she received a thank you note for teaching him how to regroup.
Tammy Whitworth
The new elementary art teacher, Tammy Whitworth, loves teaching art! Tammy holds a masters degree in Art Education and has 15 years of teaching experience in middle and high school. Tammy is the wife of David and mother of seventh grader Laura Ann and fourth grader Katie. A memorable teaching project, Tammy once painted the outside of an entire school bus with an ocean mural. Look for inspiring projects from our elementary artists.
LeAnn Mitchell
Already familiar to Hebron softball players, Coach Mitchell began her coaching duties as head softball coach this summer. Coach Mitchell has 17 years of experience in math education having taught all levels of mathematics, pre-algrebra thru AP Calculus, as well as having served as math instructional coach. LeAnn holds a bachelors degree in math and a masters in math education as well as a specialist in Educational Leadership and Administration. She will be teaching accelerated, honors and college prep geometry as well as college prep advanced math. LeAnn is married to husband, Carter, and they have a son Samuel who will starting kindergarten at HCA. Coach Mitchell came to HCA so her son could have a christian education and the two could be together. Coach Mitchell also plays travel softball and has been named a USSSA all-american and ASA all-american. She has four national championships.
Ryan Gibadlo
The new Dean of Students is Ryan Gibadlo. Ryan will also teach 11th and 7th grade history and coach 8th grade basketball. Ryan is a graduate of Georgia State University and has taught at Wesleyan and Cornerstone Christian in Norcross. Ryan and his wife Stephanie have two yellow labs. A complete God story brought Ryan to HCA when a series of events led him to the Hebron website where he saw the position posted. Ryan loves when students contact him long after being in his classroom.
Josh Carter
The new seventh grade language arts teacher, Josh Carter, and his wife, Hope Hatcher Carter, have been married for just over one year. Josh is a graduate of Augusta State University where he played baseball and golf and he is currently pursuing a masters of education. Josh spent 2 years as the Title One mathematics paraprofessional at Winder Barrow High School. At HCA, Josh will coach middle school softball and girls basketball as well as varsity boys tennis. Josh came to HCA for the opportunity to influence students' lives positively for Christ by serving as a role model and teaching academic as well as life skills.
Lori McClure
The new administrative assistant in the advancement office is Lori McClure. Lori is the mother of students Cale in seventh grade and Jana in second grade and wife of Bernie McClure. As a parent of HCA students, Lori has always appreciated the Christian environment for learning that HCA provides as well as the commitment to truth in their approach to learning. She is excited to be a part of the wonderful team at HCA.
Aubrey Vinke
New to middle school art and Bible is Aubrey Vinke. Aubrey attended Brenau University in Gainesville where she earned a bachelors degree in studio art. Aubrey and her husband Jonathon have been married for two years. She will also coach the middle school volleyball team.
Bob Cole
Bob Cole is the new Director of Facilities. He has been married to his high school sweetheart Stacey for 27 years. Coach Cole is a graduate of the University of Missouri with a degree in agricultural economics. The Cole family came to HCA as a Mother's Day gift for his children, Stephanie and Bobby, to go to school here. Coach Cole coaches softball and baseball at Hebron where he helped guide the baseball lions to the first state championship at HCA.
