Band

HCA offers beginning band and intermediate band and will offer symphonic band in 2010 for advanced high school students. Students from HCA band have been selected to participate in Midfest and Janfest Band Festivals and Clinics, GMEA District Honor Band, and GMEA First Year District Honor Band.

HCA also offers High School Praise band for students to use their talents to lead worship in weekly chapel services.

Beginning Band

Beginning Band is offered to middle school students at HCA. Students do not need to have any prior musical training or experience on an instrument to join band. Students will learn to read music and apply principles of music theory to their instruments as they learn to play the instrument. The beginning band participates in a Fall Concert, Christmas Concert, and Spring Concert. After Christmas, beginners may play in the basketball pep band with the older band students.

Intermediate Band

Intermediate Band is offered to middle and high school students with at least one year of band. The intermediate band performs three concerts each year, along with special concerts for elementary students and Grandparent's Day. Students in the intermediate band may participate in football and basketball pep bands. The band will join Gwinnett Symphony Orchestra in the spring to present a special Benefit Concert for the new HCA Band program.

Intermediate band students have the opportunity to participate in GMEA All State and District Honor Bands as well as Middle School and High School Band Festivals and Clinics sponsored by Georgia universities. Band students also have the opportunity to perform in small ensembles such as jazz band, mixed ensembles, and percussion ensemble.
