HCA’s 9th grade volleyball team is off to a phenomenal start! The Lady Lions are currently 7-2, placing second in last weekend’s annual Mill Creek Freshman Play-date. They have wins against Peachtree Ridge, Chattahoochee, North Gwinnett, Mill Creek, Parkview, and Grayson. Their only losses came to Norcross, the Play-date champions.

Coach Rosonet credits their success to her veteran players leadership and play, as well as, her more inexperienced players continued improvement and help on the court. “Ninth graders Mollie Russell, Hannah Wilbanks, Brooke Felt, and Abigail Sheffer are playing great for us right now. With this being their second year together, they have really gelled as teammates, and it absolutely shows on the court. And, our newcomers to the team have made an immediate impact and really filled holes. They improve every day, and it’s really a joy to watch them as they continue to learn more about the game.”

Coach Rosonet says she expects great things from this team because they are such a special group. “They’re so coachable and willing to work. It makes my job easy!” They have their sights set on winning their county tournament at season’s end, and with a start like this, their goal definitely seems reachable!
