HCA Media Center – MS/HS


The mission of the Hebron Christian Academy MS/HS Media Center is to teach students to be effective users of information, and to encourage and prepare students to be life-long learners with a Biblical worldview. With this mission in mind, our media center offers support for students in the following ways:

  • Provides intellectual and physical access to informational materials in a variety of formats and media
  • Provides instruction in information literacy and citation of utilized sources
  • Stimulates interest in reading and the use of the media center by students and adults
  • Fosters the knowledge and use of digital resources
  • Works with teachers to develop educational strategies to meet the informational needs of students
  • Assists in the location of needed and appropriate instructional materials

Hours: Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. (unless reserved for a special event)

  • Destiny Online Catalog
    HCA’s media centers are managed by Follett’s Destiny Library Management System. Please see Mrs. Robertson for passwords.

    Britannica Online School Edition gives teachers and students instant access to four complete encyclopedias including 98,000 articles, 27,000 graphics, plus 3,300 animations, audio clips, and videos.
  • Facts on File Ancient and Medieval History Online
    Facts on File Ancient and Medieval History provides articles, biographies, videos, charts and maps of the eight main ancient civilizations.
  • Gale Science in Context
    Gale Science in Context supports high school curricula by integrating comprehensive information from Gale Encyclopedia of Science, Chemical Elements, Science in Dispute and Macmillan Science Library.
  • Gale U.S. History in Context
    U.S History in Context provides a complete overview of U.S. history that covers the most studied events, issues and current information. It combines documents from Primary Source Microfilm’s™ digital archives; articles from classic Macmillan Reference USA™ and Charles Scribner’s Sons® references as well as other Gale proprietary content.
  • Gale World History in Context
    World History in Context offers students and researchers unparalleled access to a broad collection of full-text periodicals, reference works and primary documents, including: articles from acclaimed world history titles from Macmillan Reference USA™, Charles Scribner’s Sons® and other highly regarded encyclopedias and compendiums. The database also has selected articles from more than 125 new Gale reference titles and the ability to cross-search U.S. History in Context.
  • Galileo-Georgia Library Learning Online
    From the Gwinnett Public Library Webpage – Student must have a public library card to login with Galileo password. Galileo is a library portal for subscription only information with access to over 100 databases.
  • Questia
    Online research library with access to books, journals, articles, and encyclopedias plus helpful citation tools. Student accounts have been created and usernames and passwords are available from the media specialist.
  • SIRS Discoverer
    A multidisciplinary database for elementary and middle school learners, researchers, and educators covering curriculum areas content sets such as current events, history, health, language arts, math, science, social studies, and technology.
  • Turnitin.com
    Leading academic plagiarism checker technology for teachers and students. The program offers online plagiarism detection, grammar check, and grading tools.     The Bible Gateway is a tool for reading and researching scripture online all in the language or translation of your choice!

    BLB provides Bible study tools and aids that will encourage and exhort the Body of Christ.

  • Purdue Online Writing Lab MLA Formatting and Style Guide
    This resource, updated to reflect the MLA Handbook for Writers of Research Papers (7th ed.) and the MLA Style Manual and Guide to Scholarly Publishing (3rd ed.), offers examples for the general format of MLA research papers.
