Fine Arts - Elementary Visual Arts
Jeremiah 18:6,”As the clay is in the potter’s hand, so are you in my hand.” Our God is an amazing, creative God. He holds each of us in the palm of His hand and inspires us at the elementary school level to be creative through the production and reflection of the visual arts. He is the ultimate artist, for we are created in His image. Ephesians 2:10, “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”
Elementary students engage in the creative process by developing skills in a variety of media, techniques, and methods in both two- and three-dimensional projects. Children create art based on the design elements and principles of design. Subject matter is drawn from personal experiences/ideas, as well as themes that incorporate classroom subjects and biblical topics to reinforce and foster enhanced learning. Students discuss their own artwork and the artwork of others. Toward the end of the school year, students select their favorite “masterpiece” to display for an art exhibition.
